Mound to Host Sen. Brown for Roundtable on Clean Energy Initiatives
Senator Sherrod Brown to Visit Mound Advanced Technology Center for Discussions on the Site's Role as a Future Center for Clean and Renewable Energy Innovation and Education. Local Leaders and Companies Involved in Clean Energy Research, Development and Manufacturing will Share with Senator Their Views, Plans and Opportunities in Roundtable Format.
Miamisburg, OH - Job creation in clean energy industries and how the Mound Advanced Technology Center can serve as a center for renewable clean energy technologies will top the list of discussion points when U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) visits Mound Friday, January 15.
Brown will hold a 9:15 A.M. press conference on bringing clean energy jobs to the Miami Valley, followed by a hard-hat tour of Mound cleanup efforts funded through the Recovery Act and then a roundtable discussion on Mound's future as a leader in clean energy efforts.
Last year a $1 million FY 10 line item was approved in the 2010 Energy and Water Bill to launch an effort that would see Mound develop, deploy, demonstrate and integrate renewable and alternative energy at the site. Mound officials are in the planning phase of this initiative, and Brown has said he will seek input on how his office can best support the program.
Through the Mound energy initiative, officials have said they wish to support the nation's energy independence, create a renewable energy campus that will serve as a tool for education and networking, and generate new jobs.
While at Mound, Brown will present to representatives of the Mound Museum Association a Congressional Resolution of Appreciation to honor former nuclear workers.
